Why it’s a great time to start Laser Hair Removal NOW.

It’s the time of the year when the mornings are getting cooler, the days are getting shorter and the leaves are turning golden. While we might be sad to see the end of summer, there is one major pro: now is the perfect time to start your laser hair removal treatment plan to be hair-free by next summer!

The main reason now is the best time to start your laser hair removal journey is decreasing sun exposure.

If you haven’t had laser before, this is the main prerequisite for your treatment. You must not have had sun exposure for 14 days prior to your treatment and need to be careful after your session too. The laser increases sensitivity to UV rays, so even if you are wearing SPF when you are in the sun, you may still find your skin responds differently.

Sun burn will also increase your time between sessions. You will be required to wait at least two weeks after all peeling and redness has subsided.

If you are someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, now is the best time to get started to avoid the hassle of sun exposure!

Don’t go in the sun a lot anyway? Props to you! However, you might be surprised to know that fake tan must be removed 2 weeks before your treatment too.

Fake tan works by deepening the colour of your skin and the laser cannot distinguish the difference between this and a real tan. As the laser sends heat into the pigment of the hair, a deeper skin tone may require lower settings. This pigment is called melanin it is what gives both your skin and hair its colour. The darker the hair/skin, the more heat absorbed.

This is why fake tan increases your risk of burns, blisters and can even leave scarring. While we can turn down the settings of the laser, this will mean your treatment is not effective. If you still have fake tan present on the skin, our team will require you to reschedule your appointment and may result in a loss of your prepaid treatment if suitable notice is not given.

Given we are less likely to fake tan in winter due to pants and jumpers, this can make your treatment plan even easier! If you do have an occasion you want to tan for, just make sure you thoroughly remove it 2 weeks before your next session.

All those winter layers can also make the awkward in-between fuzz less of an issue.

Laser works to damage the follicle and causes the hair to fall out. This happens gradually as your hair begins to grow. While gentle exfoliation can help to speed up this process and encourage the hairs to fall out, there may be a few days where your skin is feeling a little fuzzy.

While you can shave in between sessions, allowing the hair to shed naturally will ensure the best results!

All these factors make achieving smooth hair-free during winter even easier. And the best part is, if you start now, you can have most of your sessions completed by next summer!

Generally, 6-12 sessions are required to achieve an 80% reduction in hair growth. The first 6 of these are space 4-6 weeks apart, then less frequently as your hair growth slows down. This means that by spring and summer, you should be only needing treatments every few months.

Imagine a summer without painful waxing and annoying stubble…
